This is a very popular location for walkers and holiday-makers making Wirksworth an ideal town to visit.

 ANNOUNCEMENT

It is with great sorrow that I advise, on behalf of the Town Council, the passing of Gladwyn Gratton, Councillor and Chair of Wirksworth Town Council.

Gladwyn died in the early hours of Wednesday 15/9/21. He will be very missed by us all and our thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this sad time.

Councillors from the Town Council, Derbyshire Dales District and Derbyshire County Councils have paid tribute to Gladwyn, who was proud to serve his town and community as a Councillor and to hold the office of Mayor this year. In the words of many he was "Wirksworth through and through."

Each year the Mayor raises funds for charity. This year, Gladwyn selected local groups which he felt represented all age groups within Wirksworth:

Wirksworth Colts FC
Wirksworth & Middleton Cricket Club
Wirksworth Memorial Bowling Club

The family has asked that any donations be made to 'Mayor's Charity - Wirksworth Town Council.' Please contact the Town Council enquiries@wirksworth.gov.uk if you would like to make a direct bank payment.
